September 9, 2023 - Spring Hill Airport Fly-In |
||||||
Spring Hill (MD35) is a privately-owned, grass strip airport. They were having a fly-in today so a bunch of us from Essex Skypark headed over. Spring Hill Airport is just northwest of Salisbury, Maryland over on the eastern shore. My grandson, Griffin, flew with me today. This is his second time in the RV and first cross-country. I don't know if he flew the plane the first time, but today he sure did. Plus he got to see some close-up of other planes in the air. |

That must be Spring Hill to the left.

||||||
Tom taxiis in in the Maule. Tom loves grass strips so he was all in on this fly-in.

Looking down the 3,400 ft long 75 ft wide runway 12.
Now looking the other way -- runway 30. At the end of runway 30 there is a shorter, perpendicular grass runway: 2/20. It is 2200 feet long, 200 longer than our home field of Essex Skypark. |
||||||
I'd say about 25 planes flew in for the fly-in, plus there were those who drove in.

All the RVs were on this side. From right to left: Richard (Kentmorr RV-8), Chuck (RV-7A), my RV-7, Dave (RV-4), Bruce (Easton RV-8)
Two beautiful planes: Hunter Harris's Stearman "Silver Queen" and the striking green and black Waco.

It was really nice of the Spring Hill Airport owners to open up their beautiful airfield and host this fun fly-in. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
